Nicole is a developmental psychologist whose research focuses on how children and adults learn about and understand emotional expressions. In particular, she is interested in understanding how we integrate facial, postural and vocal expression cues; how we
incorporate situational and linguistic information into our expression understanding; the role of movement in expression recognition; and howcultural information informs our understanding of others’ expressions.
She did her undergraduate work at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA, and received her PhD at Boston College in 2011. After completing a NSF-funded postdoctoral fellowship at Brock University in Ontario, Canada, she joined the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland in 2014.
