The Vocational Graduate Diploma in Relationship Counselling is a competency based graduate qualification within the Vocational Education and Training sector. It is one of several new qualifications created in response to changes in the family law system and the development of new and extended services for families. It provides practical, on the job skills and specialised knowledge that is required to provide services which support families in development and maintenance of healthy family relationships. Entry into the Vocational Graduate Diploma is through direct application to Bower Place.

This course is delivered both online and face-to-face. Theory work is online so students are able to choose when and where they study and work through course material each week in a way that suits them. As part of gaining their qualification, students are required to attend Bower Place and work in the Complex Needs Clinic where they either observe or participate in real life sessions with clients and our practitioners. This allows students to learn the theory and ideas behind relationship counselling and to apply this knowledge in a real life context with instruction and support from their instructor and/or an experienced practitioner in the area of relationship counselling.

Learners seeking entry to this course must demonstrate one of the following:

NB: If you have successfully completed the Bower Place Diploma of Counselling, you will gain automatic entry into this course upon receipt of your application.

The CNC is a teaching clinic where clients come in to see our practitioners at a low fee and allow students to observe and participate in their sessions. As a student, you will either be observing from a separate room completing tasks given by our lecturers, or participating in the room with the practitioner working with the client.  You would be required to take notes, work towards the clients goals, and complete client case notes. This is a very unique way to learn as you are then given the opportunity to review your session and receive feedback from your peers and our practitioners.
