The Vocational Graduate Diploma in Relationship Counselling at Bower Place from March 2010 to December 2010.
This qualification is designed for practitioners who wish to provide dispute resolution services and intervention for families experiencing high levels of relationship conflict and/or where the clients may be involved in the Family Law system. This course provides students with the skills to make high level, complex and independent judgments in highly specialised contexts.
This course is delivered both online and face-to-face. All lectures, assignments and discussions are online so that students are able to choose when and where they study and work through the course material each week. As part of gaining their qualification, students are required to come into Bower Place to work in the Complex Needs Clinic where they either observe or participate in real life sessions with clients and their instructor or a senior clinician. This allows students to not only learn the theory and ideas behind the skill of successful family dispute resolution but to apply this knowledge in a real-life context with instruction and support from their instructor and/or an experienced practitioner in the area of dispute resolution.
What are the entry requirements?
Candidates seeking entry to this qualification must provide evidence of one of the following:
-An undergraduate degree or higher qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Law, Conflict Management, Dispute Resolution, Family Law Mediation or equivalent OR
- An accredited qualification in conflict management or dispute resolution at Diploma or Advanced Diploma level OR
-Certificate IV in Mediation OR
-Previous experience in a dispute resolution environment in a job role involving self directed application of knowledge with substantial depth in some areas, exercise of independent judgement and decision making, and a range of technical and other skills.
How long is the course? 12 months (This includes 100 hours of clinical work in the Complex Needs Clinic at Bower Place)
When does the course begin? The course begins in March 2011
When do I work in the Bower Place Complex Needs Clinic? You will be required to attend sessions at the Bower Place Complex Needs Clinic on a Wednesday night from 5:00pm until 7:30pm from the commencement of the course.
What is the cost of the course? $5500.00*
*Please note that it is a requirement we receive a $500.00 refundable deposit before the commencement of the course. A 10 % discount applies if a payment option through out the course is chosen. Also note that a 10% late fee will apply if fees are not paid in full within 14 days of completion of the course. Certificates of completion will not be issued until all assignments and fees are up to date.
This qualification consists of 10 units.
Some Students may be eligible to apply for exemption from part of the course due to:
-Prior formal study;
-Or informal study, work experience and life experience – often referred to Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
