Nonviolent Resistance

Bower College is bringing our Nonviolent Resistance workshop nationally around Australia

Parents, social workers, psychologists, teachers & therapists are all challenged by children whose aggressive, violent & demanding behavior is untouched by standard approaches. Inspired by the ideas of Israeli psychologist, Haim Omer, Bower Place has used Nonviolent Resistance (NVR) extensively to address the anger & aggression that masks the deeper needs of children. This technique has been applied and has been effective when working with multi-stressed families, children in care, child abuse, child protection, parental mental health, substance use problems, domestic violence, and trauma. Nonviolent Resistance is premised on the idea that it is possible to resist control and remain peaceful, non-controlling and respectful towards the person who is acting in a violent or oppressive way. It recognizes that anger and aggression often mask the needs of children, and violence alienates them from their parents, carers and teachers. Nonviolent Resistance supports parents, siblings and carers to address problems in effective and peaceful.
